Roberto Santiago Built Manaira Shopping Mall: A Brazilian Entertainment Center

In Brazil the popularity of Roberto Santiago continues to grow. He was a well-known blogger and people loved his work. When he opened his cardboard box company which created decorative pieces, his popularity grew a little more among tourists. He moved on to CafĂ© Santa Rosa and caught the attention of another group of people. But when he opened Manaira Shopping Mall in Joao Pessoa, his popularity went to an all-time high. The 93,000 square foot mall was launched in 1989 and it went on to become Brazilian’s favorite mall. And made Roberto Santiago one of Brazil’s best known businessmen.

Born in Joao Pessoa, Brazil in 1958, Roberto Santiago first attended Pio X-Marist College before earning a degree in business administration from the University Center of Joao Pessoa. When Santiago began purchasing the land to build the Manaira Mall in 1987, he was already a well-known businessman. The mall took two years to build, but when it was completed it became obvious Roberto Santiago had included something for people of all ages. There is 11 movie theatres, a gaming area with all types of fun games and hundreds of stores with everything from clothes and shoes, to sporting equipment, appliances, furniture and more. It also had a massive food court, bank and a college.

In 2009, Roberto Santiago made an addition to Manaira Shopping Mall that took its popularity to an entirely new level. That’s when he created a rooftop entertainment center called Domus Hall. The two-floor hall can hold 10,000 people and has seating for 4,000. It’s air-conditioned, sound-proof, has an incredible best sound system, private cabins on the top floor and a wide open area large enough for fairs, festivals, musical concerts, exhibits, conferences, weddings and graduation ceremonies. Some of the top entertainers from Brazil and all over the world have performed there.

Roberto Santiago keeps improving Manaira Shopping Mall. That make Brazilians love it even more. In addition to adding Domus Hall in 2009, Santiago also upgraded the mall in 2008, 2012 and 2014. He expanded to food court to offer every type of fast food option, many tasty Brazilian favorites and the top fine dining restaurants. Plus, the mall is close to the beach. People can watch spectacular Brazilian sunsets while strolling through the mall, then party the night away at Domus Hall. Roberto Santiago’s Manaira Shopping Mall is now the social center of the community.

The mall has become the economic engine of the Joao Pessoa area. People from all over the country flock to the area. Many companies have opened branches there as well. That has created employment opportunities and enriched Joao Pessoa. It’s a wonderful gift Roberto Santiago has given his home town.
